When the Hamburg Diet assembled, Communist deputies placed a huge red ribboned wreath and red flowers on Henning’s former seat. Then before the President could open the session, they hurled themselves on the Nazis, and a furious hand to hand flght resulted, the Nazis being outnumbered. After some bloodshed the police restored order. The President suspended seven Communists for from one to two months.
