PERSONAL.
Mr M. Guild left Timaru by the express for the south yesterday. Mr A. E. Lawrence, editor of ”The Timaru Herald." left yesterday on a short visit to Wellington. Mr F. Chittock, Grand President of the Canterbury Grand Lodge of Druids, left Timaru yesterday for Hastings to attend the bi-annual session of the Grand Lodge of the North Island. Mr J. E. Purchase, M.A., Principal of the Teachers’ Training College, Christchurch, handed in his resignation to the Canterbury Education Board yesterday. Mr Purchase will shortly retire on superannuation, after forty years' service with the Department. Reference to Mr W. D. Revell’s accident was made at last evening’s meeting of the committee of the South Canterbury Automobile Association. The secretary (Mr E. A. Scott), was instructed to write to Mr Revell expressing the Association's sympathy, and the hope that he would make a good recovery.
