The Athletic Football Club was granted affiliation by the Canterbury Rugby Union at the annual meeting subject to members requiring reinstatement being reinstated by the New Zealand Rugby Union. The application followed on the withdrawal of the Marist Old Boy’s Club from the Rugby League competition, many members of the Athletic Club having been members of that club in the League competition.
