AUCKLAND CONFERENCE. ‘ By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND. March 19 The New Zealand Poultry Association unanimously carried a resolution asking the Government to allow the free importation of all food for stock purposes, now subject to duty, and alternatively, that the maximum duty on wheat for stock purposes should not exceed 1/- per bushel. The mover contended that the present duty was fixed when the world’s parity was approximately 5/6. To-day, with the parity about 2/6, the original duty represented 50 per cent. Surely a 1/- duty on a product worth 2/6 was reasonable.
