DAIRY RESEARCH.
ACTIVITIES AT MASSEY COLLEGE. By Telegraph—Press Association PALMERSTON N., March 19. In the course of a report to the Massey Agricultural College Council, Professor Riddet, Dean of Dairying, stated that the principal lines of work on the manufacturing side this year are comparison of cheeses made from high and low testing milk, and study of the effect of keeping starter mother cultures in different ways. Investigation of the principal methods of improving the maturity of export cheese on arrival in the United Kingdom was in progress. Fairly extensive butter-making experiments were carried out, with the object of determining whether it is possible to export butter with a fuller flavour than standard export produce, which would preserve its character till it reaches the consumer in Britain.
