PERSONAL.
Dr C. J. McKenzie left Timaru for Wellington by the express yesterday. Mr R. G. McGillivray, superintendent of the fields division of the Department of Agriculture, Christchurch, left Timaru for the north yesterday. Members of Parliament who were passengers by the express for the north yesterday included: Messrs T. D. Burnett( Temuka), Adam Hamilton (Wallace). A. E. Ansell (Chalmers), and F. Waite (Clutha). The Defence Minister announces the appointment of Brigadier W. L. H. Sinclair Burgess, Chief of the General Staff to succeed Major-General R. Young, as General Offier Commanding the Defence Forces.—(Press Association) .
Included in the passengers by the express for the north yesterday were several members of the Legislative Council, en route to Wellington. They were: The Hons. R. Scott (Otago). D. T. Fleming (Southland), J. A. Hanan (Otago), W. Stevenson (Invercargill), G. M. Thomson (Otago), and Sir James Allen (Otago).
