WOOL PRICES RISING.
Further Improvement at Dunedin. JAPAN AND CONTINENT ACTIVE. By Telegraph—Press Association DUNEDIN, March 9. The third wool sale of the season at Dunedin was held to-day. when a total catalogue of 18.950 bales was offered to a full bench of buyers. Competition was firm from the outset, and was very keen and at t'mes excited. The bulk of the offering was secured for the Continent and Japan, Bradford buyers being extremely quiet. It was evident that Bradford limits were below those of Continental and Japanese buyers. Comparing prices with those ruling at Christchurch last week, they were higher by a good penny. In comparison with the last Duned n sale, halfbreds can be quoted at 2d to 2-id higher, and crossbreds lid to 2d firmer. Bellies, pieces and locks elicited keen competition, and showed a corresponding firming compared with fleece wool. The wool opened up in good condition, and an almost total clearance was effected. The official range of prices was as follows: Mer’no (64-70. 60-64) Average. Bid to 93d. Inferior, 63d to Bd. Fine halfbred (58, 56-58, 56) — Super, lOd to llid. Average, Bld to lOd.
