VICTORIA RACING CLUB. PHAR LAP DEFEATED. NEW ZEALANDERS RUN WELL. United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph—Copyright (Received March 8, 5.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE, March 8. The weather was fine for the Victoria Racing Club’s meeting at Flemington, and there was a fair attendance. Killarney, trained by the New Zealander, George Price, won the Leonard Stakes brilliantly. The owner, Moses, races There was a stirring contest in the Lloyd Stakes. Waterline looked as if beaten at the distance, but finished gamely under punishment. He had a wonderful ovation. This is Waterline’s fifth win in Australia. The New Zealand-bred colt Autopay, led all the way in the Ascotvale Stakes. This makes his third success this season. Carry On outstayed the opposition in the Australian Cup. He is trained by Price, who won with Killarney, and ridden by Duncan, who won the Cup previously on Accarak. The placed horses, White Nose and St. Mary, made good efforts, but Glare ran poorly, and was always near the rear. Golden Arrow headed Brazenface in the last few strides in the Elms Handicap. He is a son of the dual Caulfield Cup winner, Whittier. Starissa led all the way in the Farewell Handicap and just beat Soulton. Results:— LEONARD STAKES, 6 furlongs. . Killarney, 8.12 (M.
