Faced with the prospect of a large deficit for the year, the Prime Minister, Mr Bennett, and his Cabinet, are plann'ng new taxes. It is understood a sales tax on all manufacturers and retailers will be increased from 1 to 4 per cent.; a 2 per .cent, turnover tax will be imposed on manufacturers and wholesale merchants; newspaper postage rates and corporations tax will both be increased.
