STRATFORD PREMISES DESTROYED. By Telegraph—Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, March 8. J. W. Walker Ltd.’s drapery emporium, and W. Lonsdale’s confectionery premises in Stratford were destroyed by fire at an early hour this morning. Mrs E. M. Loose’s confectionery shop was seriously damaged. Walker’s stock and fittings were insured for £5,800, Mrs Lonsdale’s for £7OO, and Mrs Looses for £350. Before the conflagration was under control, two shops had been reduced to ashes and the third gutted. Strenuous work by the brigade prevented the fire from spreading further in a continuous line of buildings.
