TWO TOMTITS.
NEW AIR FORCE ’PLANES. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, March 5. Two Hawker “Tomtits,” ordered for the New Zealand Air Force, have arrived. Two more are on order. The machines, which are to be used for training purposes, will give clubtrained pilots in the Air Force more advanced training. The new machines are biplanes, with all-metal fuselage, and two open cockpits, the rear of which is fitted with a hood to allow a pupil to be instructed in blind flying. The Tomtit has a speed of 124 miles per hour at 1000 feet. It is expected that the machines will go to Masterton for the pageant on Saturday week.
