H.M.S. VERONICA.
EARTHQUAKE DAMAGE SLIGHT. By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, March 4. Examination has revealed that very little damage was caused to H.M.S. Veronica, when she was berthed at Port Ahuriri during the Napier earthquake. After the first swerve of the shock the floor of the harbour rose beneath her, and she was aground hard and fast. The sloop was aground on other occasions while she was alongside the wharf, and at one time it was feared that the hull might have been severely strained. However, examination has proved that the damage *as very slight, and during the last three weeks minor repair work has been carried out.
