“ORDER OF THE EGG.”
PRESENTATION TO BRITISH MINISTER. United Press Association — By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, December 28. In recognition of his encouragement of Union products, a delegation, male and female, of South African students invested Mr J. H. Thomas at the Dominions Office with the "Order of the Egg," consisting of a string of South African hen's eggs, which festooned his neck. It was intended to use ostrich eggs, but these hatched out on the voyage. A girl student handed over a basket of peaches for Mrs Thomas. Mr Thomas recalled how, like all politicans, he had previously been the recipient of eggs in more unpleasant circumstances.
