Fewer Millionaires. VAST ARMY OF TAXPAYERS. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received December 29. 7.50 p.m.) WASHINGTON, December 28. Five hundred and eleven persons with incomes of a million dollars or more, paid income taxes in 1928. This is an increase of 221 over the previous year, and represented the peak of America’s prosperity. Million dollar incomes in 1929 and 1930, are expected to show a very sharp shrinkage. Twenty-six persons in 1928 had incomes of five million dollars, or more than 186,000,000 dollars were paid in income taxes during that year. Two million five hundred and twenty-three thousand persons of the country reported total incomes oi 25,226,000,000 dollars; 268,000 corporate bodies reported incomes of 10,617,000,000 dollars.
