DRUIDS LODGE.

TRUSTEE HONOURED. The fortnightly meeting of the U.A.O.D. was held on December 23rd, the AD., Bro. McCone, presiding. Correspondence was received from various lodges. The sick bard’s report on sick brethren showed twelve on the sick fund, two having declared off. Sick pay amounting to £l4/7/was passed for payment; also two maternity claims. The rest of the evening was devoted to a social evening. The A.D. proposed the toast of the “King and the Druids.” Supper was then provided. The A.D. called upon P.G.P. Bro. Hathaway to make a presentation to P.G.P. Bro. R. W. Simpson, who had resigned the position of Trustee after 38 years, for thirty-two of which he was Senior Trustee. Bro. Hathaway spoke of the good work done by P.G.P. Bro. Simpson, and on behalf of the lodge presented Bro. Simpson with a framed copy of a minute of appreciation, also with a writing desk; and for Mrs Simpson a barometer. S.T. Bro. Morgan and Bros. P.A. Bro. McDougall, PD.P. Bros. Ruston, Castles, Keay, Stead and Kirk also spoke of the good work done by Bro. Simpson. They wished him a safe trip Home and a safe return. Bro. Simpson thanked the lodge sincerely for their handsome presents. He did not expect any reward for the service which he had given the lodge, which was a labour of love, but he was pleased that the lodge had recognised Mrs Simpson, who was a great help to him in his work. He then gave a varied account of lodge work during the period he was in office. He was pleased to see the lodge funds grow to £II,OOO, which, he said it would when he had taken office. Bro. Simpson will be going Home for a trip early in the New Year, and will attend the biennial reunion of Druids which will be held at Hull, where Druids from all parts of the world will be present.
