Mangels have more than proved their worth as supplementary feed in the TeKuiti district this winter. The dairymen who grew mangels this year were amply repaid for their time and expenditure, and it is safe to assume that their popularity will increase as a supplementary crop next season. The mangel, is also a very popular crop in the Otewa and Mangaorongo districts where heavy yields were obtained. The mangels are pulled and stacked for several weeks before being fed to the stock, along with lucerne, hay or ensilage.
