SOME FASCINATING WARDROBES. Now that interior decoration has extended to the wardrobe, keeping clothes in order is a fascinating busiThe latest in children’s cupboards, for instance, is covered with oilcloth, amusingly patterned with barnyard figures. It has “pigeon holes” for shoes, a drawer with compartments for home, and, on top, under the lid. a space to put neatly folded underdear. Chintz-covered hangers, just the right size for the child’s clothes, and matching pads, which fit exactly into the toes of his shoes, are made of chintzes gaily printed with nursery figures or circus performers. A painted wooden giraffe on the shelf offers his neck to hold the child’s school hat, and a green and yellow palm tree extends the same service to his Sunday hat. Bags of shiny, semi-transparent, dust-proof material are made in the child’s favorite colour, and correct size for covering his clothing. Chintz garment bags in delightful designs have zipper fastenings, and there’s a laundry bag to match. The shelves are edged in scalloped chintz, to harmonise with the barnyard oilcloth cabinet, and the garment bags. Red chint hooks add a gay touch; and are placed low enough for the child to reach easily. The most sumptuous of the new feminine wardrobes have boxes and cabinets covered in waterproof fabrics in shellacked paper or glazed chintzes. These are easily kept fresh, and may be purchased to harmonise with the colours used in the bedroom. For the shelf there are boxes for garments not in constant use, and matching hatboxes, which have a drop-front to facilitate the removal of a hat. Hatstands, toe-pads for shoes, and dress hangers, in chintz, velvet, taffeta, or painted wood, must catch the colour of the ensemble.
