WOMEN WHO DO THINGS.

Among women who take prominent positions is Marie Kuchar, of Czechoslovakia, a genius of finance, who has control of banks in five cities. An Englishwoman in an unusual position is Miss Wheeler, of Buckinghamshire, univerity trained, the only woman Sc. of Dairying in England. She does research work in the dairy laboratories to safeguard the nation’s health.

It is of interest to note that a woman architect, Mrs Geoffrey Webb, was the designer of the statue to the late Queen Alexandra, unveiled by the King of Denmark, at Copenhagen. It may be of passing interest also that a little girl, Evelyn Griffiths, aged ten, of Wales, is said to be the youngest professional artist to be recorded at the gramophone. She sang from a London studio. One trusts, however, that this does not herald child performers on gramophone or wireless, even as plays acted entirely by children were the novelties of a previous generation.
