WHEN PETROL PIPE BREAKS.

When a petrol or oil pipe breaks on the road it is useful to know that a road-worthy repair can be affected with a simple cork. It is only necessary to use one of fairly large size, bore through it from end to end a hole of slightly smaller diameter than the broken pipe, slip it over the broken portions of the pipe, and bind firmly with wire or strong cord. In this way a leak-proof joint can be effected, which will last until such time as the car can be garaged and the fractured pipe repaired properly. Another good temporary repair can be made by using a short length of flexible rubber tubing.
