S.C.M.C.C.

CLUB NOTES. (By “Acceleration.”) COMMITTEE MEETING. The first meeting of the new committee was held last Monday night, only two members being absent. The first business of the evening was the election of an acting vice-president, this matter having been left in he hands of the committee at the annual meeting. Three committee men were proposed for the position and on a ballot being taken, Mr T. McPherson was the successful, candidate. The question of the price of the club badge was raised and several members expressed the opinion that too much money was charged for the article. Club members when they lost one flag, were very loth to play three and sixpence for another one. It was decided that with the increased subscription, the club could easily afford to reduce the price of the flag, and the motion that the badges be sold in future at one and sixpence each, was carried unanimously. Every effort was to be made to get the old members of the club to join up for the new year, and to this end it was resolved to send out a circular to all old club-members with a copy of the half-yearly programme. A short discussion took place on the advisability of holding another dance before Christmas on similar lines to the one held recently. It was decided however, that it was too soon after the annual dance and that it would be better to wait until about April in the next year. The principal business of the evening was the formation of the halfyearly programme, and it was decided that as this club appeared to be first on the field with the year’s programmes that the committee would not wait to receive programmes from other clubs clubs but issue the South Canterbury Club’s one immediately. The first fixture is a club run, and it is hoped to incorporate a hare drive with the run on the day chosen. Particulars will however be advertised later, and it is hoped that there will be a good muster for the first event of the year.
