CASUALTIES.
ACCIDENTAL DEATH. By Telegraph—Press Association. MASTERTON, August 21. A verdict of accidental death was returned by the Coroner (Mr E. G. Etton) at the inquest at Tinui to-day on Wilfred Wrigley Payne, a Post and Telegraph officer of Masterton, who was killed in a motoring accident near Tinui on Wednesday night. There were no eye-witnesses of the accident, but there were marks of a skid on the road. Deceased was pinned underneath a vehicle which was found upside down on the road. FATAL WOUND IN THROAT. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 21. Taken to hospital on Wednesday evening after he had been found in a paddock in Sar Street, Wadestown, in an unconscious condition with his throat cut, Thomas Spillman (41), single, a tunneller, living at Broughton Street, died at 3.15 this afternoon. Little is known of the dead man’s recent movements, and his identity was not known until some little time after he had been admitted to hospital. A blade razor was found nearby him.
