DIRECTORS MEETING. At the meeting of the Y.W.C.A. directors on Monday afternoon, there were present Mesdames T. E. Holdgatc (in the chair). Benstead. Butcher, Hay, Washbourn, Vincent and Raymond and Misses Howell. Preston, Shaw, Sunaway, Wilson, Hewat and the general secretary. Correspondence was received from the National Office, in connection with a plea for reduction in telephone charges and rating, and Mrs Holdgate and the secretary were appointed to interview the member for this electorate on the matter. Correspondence included also letters from Miss Gavin, National Student, secretary in India: Miss Bretlierton, at the World's Office in Geneva; and Miss Batt, who wrote of attending a World’s Committee meeting. In compliance with a request for a representative on a co-operative Youth Committee to be formed, the secretary was appointed. Reports fj .n Standing Committees gave details of the work carried on during the month of July. The Girls’ Work Committee reported that the Health Circus, which had occupied most of the time of Clubs, had been successful in every way and net proceeds had amounted to --£l6. Congratulations were to be conveyed to two basketball players, Misses M. Crisp and J. McDonald on their having been chosen as members of the South Canterbury representative team to visit Hastings shortly. The membership and Finance Committee reported seven new financial members, and recommended the holding of a jumble sale shortly. The secretary spoke of the programmes being undertaken by clubs, and the suggestion of holding an exhibition of work at the annual meeting. Mention was made of the valuable work done here during her period of training by Miss Hart who is shortly to leave for a larger Association and Mrs Holdgate extended to her the good wishes of the members of the Board. In the report on the meeting of the National Executive there was a message of thanks and farewell from Yuki Kimura San which was received with much appreciation.
