BRITISH RUGBY TEAM.
WELCOMED IN SYDNEY. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received August 20, 10.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, August 20. The British Rugby footballers were accorded a civic reception at Sydney to-day. The Lord Mayor (Mr Marks), and the Hon. R. W. Weaver (Minister of Mines), welcomed them on behalf of the city and the Government. Both were confident that the visit of the Englishmen would help to unite Australia still more closely to the Dear Old Land. They had noted with interest the great stir the games had caused in the Dominion, and predicted that feeling would run just as high here. Mr J. Baxter (manager), and Mr F. D. Prentice (captain) made happy responses.
