The Famous Two Hundred: Only those who are “behind the scenes” can have any idea of the enormous amount of work, worry, and detail connected with an exhibition of jewels. When Ascot is over, 200 of the most distinguished and wealthiest people* in London, including most of the members of the Corps Diplomatique, and the richest girl in the world—who arrives in England shortly—will be the specially invited guests at a wonderful exhibition of pearls, the most complete of its kind ever held in London. The exhibition has been organised at the suggestion of a woman. So the “Famous 200” will enter a door in London’s most exclusive shopping centre, a door guarded by an eagle-eyed commissionaire, and visit a real-life Aladdin’s cave. The most valuable and perfect necklace of pearls in the world will be amongst the exhibits. Just a row of 42 pearls, with a solitaire diamond clasp, but what pearls! The centre one weighs 90 grains, and all the pearls are perfect and perfectly matched, and took nearly 20 years to collect. The price runs into six figures. Then there will be black pearls-r----“black” pearls, by the way, are really dark grey. A black pearl solitaire, set in platinum, to match three rows of perfect pearls—all black. Pink pearls, the shade of the heart of a La France rose—and milky white pearls, set as rings, bracelets, and earrings, will also be on show. The pearls alone are valued at four million pounds sterling, and there will be other jewels too. SYDAL’S USES. For chapped hands, lips, heels and ankles, wind burn, sunburn, before shaving, a base for face powder, a balm for tired feet, and hands roughened by work or water. Remember to rub it well in, except where the skin is broken; then use gentle massage. Sydal cleanses and Nature heals
