ART UNION.
WANTED FOR FIRE BRIGADE. By Telegraph—Pres« A*soclatlP*a WELLINGTON, August 2. Faith in art unions was instanced to-day when a deputation waited on the Hon. W. A. Veitch, urging the necessity for the introduction of a scheme which would permit the provision of adequate superannuation at an early age of fire brigadesmen. This, it was stressed, was desirable from the arduous nature of their calling. It was stated that the Act at the present time provided only for a £250 pension, and brigadesmen desired that a contributory scheme should be established. Mr Veitch, who was representing the Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle, said he could not make any promise on behalf of his colleague. He was sure Mr de la Perrelle would sympathise iyith their claims. Mr Veitch’s opinion was that it was only a matter of working out a practical scheme.
