MART REPORTS.

MORTON AND CO. Messrs Morton and Co. report for the week ended July 26th, as follows: Poultry was in keen demand and a full yarding was disposed of on Friday at good prices. On Wednesday we held a sale of furniture for Mrs A. Crawford, at High Street, and on Thursday a sale was held in the Mart for Mr J. Hunt. Both sales were well attended, and all lots satisfactorily disposed of. A good entry was forward for our weekly auction, and a fair clearance made. Apples were fairly plentiful and the demand good. The inquiry for peas was moderate, only choice lines being saleable. Very heavy consignments of Australian oranges and mandarins reached the market this week, and prices realised were fully fifty per cent, lower than the last shipment. Lemons were not so plentiful and prices were firm. Poorman oranges were in better supply and prices easier. Vegetables were in gou* demand, with fair supplies. Sound table potatoes and onions met a good demand. Egg supplies were good, with no alteration in price. Prices realised this week were: Apples, dessert 6s to 10s 6d case; pears, winter cole to 10s 6d case, winter nelis Is to 3s 6d case; Island oranges 18s to 22s case, navel oranges 12s 6d to 18s 6d case, mandarines 11s 6d to 18s 6d case; Seville oranges 14s 6d case, Poorman oranges 11s to 14s 6d case; N.Z. lemons 18s to 20s case, Milduru lemons 22s 6d to 26s 6d case; hothouse tomatoes, seconds to 4.id per lb. Cut flowers.—Narcissi to 6d dozen. Foliage from 6d bunch. Vegetables.—Cauliflower 3/- to 3/6 sk, cabbage 2/- to 4/- sk, marrows from lid lb, walnuts 6d to 8d lb. Produce.—Table potatoes 7/- to 10/sk, swede turnips 5/- sk, carrots 4/- to 5/- cental, parsnips 5/- to 6/- cental, onions to 6/6 cental, fowl wheat to 23/6 sk, oats 15/-, chaff to 7/- bacon, rolls, 1/3 lb, sides to 1/2, hams 1/3, fresh eggs 1/9 dozen. Poultry.—Hens 4/- to 6/- pair, pullets 3/6 to 4/- each, roosters 4/- to 67pair, ducks 6/6 pair, cockerels 6/- to 10/- pair.
