ORARI BRIDGE.
LADIES’ RIFLE CLUB. The following are the results of the weekly shoot of the Orari Bridge Ladies’ Miniature Rifle Club:—Mrs Tagg 77, Mrs South 74, Mrs Wordsworth 77, Mrs Pratt 76, Mrs Cain 75, Mrs Ivey 70, Miss J. Rule 73, Miss C. Rule 70. I SOCIAL EVENING. A social held in the Orari Bridge Hall was well attended on Wednesday evening. The ladies’ prize was won by Miss J. South and Mr Rapley won the men’s prize after playing off with Mr A. Giles. Mrs Whiting supplied the music for the dance and Mr Ford controlled the floor. FOOTBALL. On Friday afternoon a football match was played between the Oran Gorge and Orari Bridge Schools at Orari Bridge, and resulted in a win for Orari Gorge by 11 to 3. Mr W. South acted as referee. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies of the district. HARE DRIVE. A hare drive in aid of the Orari Bridge Men's Miniature Rifle Club was held over the district north of the Orari River and an enjoyable day was spent. THE WEATHER. Early on Monday evening a heavy fall of snow \«as experienced in the Orari Bridge district, but it did not continue very long, and was succeeded by a very heavy frost. On Tuesday the conditions were very wintry, but on Wednesday milder weather prevailed and most of the snow has disappeared. At Peel Forest the ground is still thickly coated. A very unpleasant change took place in the weather on Thursday afternoon, when after a beautiful fine warm morning, a southerly buster sprang up, accompanied by a severe hail storm and rain. Fortunately the hail did not last very I long and the evening proved calm and fine. RIFLE CLUB. The Orari Bridge Men’s Miniature Rifle Club's shoot on Monday evening was postponed on account of the inclement weather.
