Captain William Manning is taking out, on July 31, the twinscrew lighthouse general service tender Matai, built by Messrs Hawthorn, Leslie and Coy., at Helburn, on the Tyne, for the New Zealand Government.

The Matai is sailing via Panama at reduced speed of nine knots. She is equipped with an echo sounding machine, and wireless has been installed in the cabin for the GovernorGeneral’s suite.
