MISHAP TO PLUNKET NURSE. While endeavouring to avoid some children who were on their way to school at Kerrytown yesterday morning. Plunket Nurse McClurg met with a slight accident. The car Nurse McClurg was driving, through the sudden swerve, turned over on its side. Nurse McClurg was not seriously injured, but one of her wrists received a nasty jar. The car was not damaged to any extent. BOXING. In the South Canterbury amateur boxing championships in Timaru tonight, the Temuka Club will be represented by the following:—C. Davis flyweight; A. Currie, featherweight; J.“ Spillane, lightweight; J. Connolly, middleweight; W. Manning, heavyweight. There was a good attendance in the Club rooms last evening when the boxers went through a final work-out with Mr Eddie Parker in attendance. All contestants showed good form, and the Club is confident that at least some of the titles were made for Temuka. HOCKEY. The following players will represent the Temuka Ladies’ team against Winchester at Temuka to-day, at 3 p.m.:—Forwards—C. Hope. R. Woodham, M. Hannifin, D. Webb, M. Sherborne; halves —C. Fisher, H. Goodman, M. Tozer; backs—R. Green, E. Stephens; goal—A. Hannifin. Emergencies—B. Reid and E. Smith. GENERAL NEWS. Yet another change of weather was experienced in Temuka yesterday and cold conditions prevailed, a cold southerly wind that sprang up at midday adding to the discomfiture of residents. Light rain fell in the afternoon. AROWHENUA NATIVE SUNDAY SCHOOL. The annual prize of the Arowhenua Native Sunday School took place on Sunday. The following received books and words of cheer, Rev. G. Miss Kingston was the donor of the special prize. PERSONAL. Mr W. Baxter, postmaster, returned to Temuka yesterday from his annual holiday. He will take up his duties this morning.
