CHRISTCHURCH PRODUCE MARKETS. POTATOE VALUES WEAKER. By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, July 22. The potato market has eased since the week-end. On Friday forward quotations were £5 to £5/5/- f.0.b., s.i., for “prompts,” and Julys, and £5/12/6 to £5/15/- for August-September’s. Yesterday “prompts” and July's had fallen to £4/12/6 f.0.b., s.i., Augusts to £5/2/6 and September’s to £5/5/-. This drop in the market is due to weak holders selling.! To-day quotations are unaltered, but August-Septembers cannot be secured for £5/2/6 f.0.b., s.i. There are few orders coming to hand from Auckland and other ports. The next boat from Lyttelton is the Katoa, which is due to sail for Auckland on Friday. The farmer is still firm holders, the nominal value on trucks being being £3/10/- to £3/15/-. The oats market has also weakened as far as southern quotations are con- | cemed. Locally the position is firm, i and B Grade Gartons have been sold J for Lyttelton shipment at 4/-. The j southern quotations to-day are 3/9 to I 3/95 f.0.b., s.i., for A Gartons for August delivery, and 3/85 for B’s. j The chaff market is also a shade weaker, with few orders coming to I hand. Chaff has been sold for “prompt” ' delivery at £6/17/6 f.0.b., s.i., equivalent I to £5/7/6 on trucks. Chaff for later I delivery is not offering in much quantity. Onions are worth £2/10/- to £3/10/-, according to the quality of the offering. A little business is being transacted in next season’s wheat, on the basis of 5/5 to 5/6 for Tuscan, according to stations. Fowl wheat values remain firm at 6/- f.0.b., s.i., with a fair inquiry. WOOL SALE IN AUCKLAND. LATE VALUES MAINTAINED. By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, July 22. A satisfactory clearance at prices approximately on a par with those ruling elsewhere was made at a supplementary wool sale in Auckland to-day. A total catalogue of 700 bales, about 100 bales being fleece, were offered. Although arranged as a winter wool saje, in view of the heavy carry over of fleece wool from the regular sales, to-day’s fixture attracted a catalogue made up principally of crutchings and oddments, with a small proportion of fleece wool which had either been held over or shorn late. Fleece wool sold up to 8d per lb, this price being realised for several lots, including medium crossbred and Southdown. Best crutchings sold up to 6id. medium quality from 4d to sd, and inferior from 23d to 33d. Prices for fleece wool were about Id per lb better than those obtained at the third Auckland sale in March.
