BUNGALOW GUTTED. By Telegraph—Press Association HOKITIKA, July 17. A fire at 2.30 this afternoon badly gutted a five-roomed bungalow on Gibson Quay, owned and occupied by Gordon Bryant. Mrs Bryant left the house a short time before. The outbreak was discovered by a neighbour. The insurance on the building was £4OO and the furniture £175. BAKER'S PREMISES DESTROYED. By Telegraph—Press Association WHANGAREI, July 17. At 8 o'clock last night a fire at Kamo destroyed a baker’s shop and residence combined, owned by Mr Harry Wilkinson and occupied by Mrs Moore, also an adjoining dwelling, owned by Mr James Swann and occupied by Mr and Mrs Johnson. A bucket brigade which was the only fire fighting medium available, was unable to prevent the total demolition. DWELLING CONSUMED. By Telegraph—Press Association WANGANUI, July 17. A dwelling of five rooms, owned by Mr J. Rutherford, Rapanui, together with the contents, was totally destroyed by fire at 5.30 this morning. The occupants made a hurried escape ii» their night attire.
