BOUND FOR NORTH POLE.
PLANS TO DIVE UNDER ICE. United Press Association—By Electrle Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, July 16. Interviewed, Sir Hubert Wilkins said he was leaving New York in May. The actual expedition will begin at Spitzbergen, for Alaska. The object is purely geophysical, and will show the world the possibility of reaching the Pole by diving beneath the ice. He will be able to stay under for a maximum of 2* days. He will arrange to broadcast progress reports whilst on the surface. “Why does not Australia help me? It is remarkable that an Australian is heading the expedition without a single penny from his own country.”
