At Hartford (Connecticut), Battalino retained the featherweight championship by knocking out Fernandez in the fifth of a scheduled fifteen round bout. At New York, Kid Chocolate took an impressive decision in ten rounds from Luigi Quadrini. A message from Cleveland states that the Risko-Heeney fight has been postponed from Thursday to Tuesday. Risko dislocated a shoulder while training. CONTEST AT GISBORNE. CLAIM FOR FOUL NOT SUSTAINED. By Telegraph—Press Association GISBORNE, July 18. A professional contest between Lou Bloom (America) and Gus Fitzmaurice (Gisborne) came to a termination at the end of the third round. Fitzmaurice appeared unable to proceed, and complained to the referee that he had been struck low. The referee commenced to count, when the gong went for the interval. After the interval, Fitzmaurice was counted out, and on examination, three medical men reported to the referee that they were unable to find evidence that a foul blow had been struck. Bloom was declared the winner.
