FORCED DOWN
KINGSFORD SMITH ESCAPES INJURY. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received July 16, 7.30 p.m.) SAN FRANCISCO, July 15. Flight Commander Kingsford Smith and Mr Saul were uninjured when a small biplane, in which they were flying here from Santa Maria, was forced down from a height of 3700 ft. by a broken magneto shaft. Kingsford Smith landed safely in a farmer’s field.
