RAILWAY DISMISSALS
TO TAKE EFFECT TO-NIGHT. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, July 16. Representatives of the four railwaymen’s organisations had a brief conference with the Hon. W r . A. Veitch (Minister of Railways), this morning, in reference to the proposal to ration work in the Department. Owing to a Cabinet meeting, however, the conference had to be adjourned. It is expected that when the meeting resumes the Minister will make known his decision regarding the dismissals which have already taken place. To a question after the meeting, the Minister said he had issued instructions that the men were to be retained in the service till to-morrow night. “That is the final extension," said Mr Veitch.
