MART REPORTS.
“THE RIALTO.” H. Allchurch and Co. report for the week ended July 12th: — At our weekly sale on Friday we had a very heavy entry of poultry, every pen being filled. We also had a good entry of pigs, 15 of various grades being yarded. The demand was for good table poultry, especially for heavy varieties, table potatoes were in better demand, good whites being freely en- ! quired for. Vegetable marrows, car- ; rots, parsnips, and cabbage came forI ward in good quanties, but cauliflower ■ were scarce. Onions advanced in price. ; The supply of eggs showed an increase consequently the price dropped slightly. Prices realised were as follows: — Poultry.—Hens, heaVy, 3/6 to 4/6, others 2/6 to 3/3; cockerels, heavy, 5/6 to 7/-, (one pen 9/6), others 4/- to l 5/-; roosters 3/6 to 5/3; ducks 5/6 to j 6/6, others 4/3 to 5/6, pair; geese 5/3 j each, a line of backward pullets realised 4/9 to_7/l pair. Pigs.—Weaners 20/-, 21/-, and 21/6 each; slips 24/-, '25/-, 26/- and 29/each. Produce.—Wheat 16/- to 22/6 sack, potatoes 8/- to 10/-. swedes 5/- sack, cabbage 2/- to 2/9 dozen, marrows Id to lid lb., onions to 7/- bag. bacon, rolls, 9d to lOd lb.; parsnips, carrots, and swedes 2/- to 3/- kit, artichokes li lb., cauliflowers 4s to 7s dozen. Fruit.—Apples, dessert, 6/- to 9/case; walnuts 8d to 9d; pears 4/6 to 5/6' case, 2/6 to 3/- half case. Eggs.—Fairly heavy supplies of eggs were forward and the price was easier, but the market is steady at 1/10 dozen. Furniture and Effects.—On Friday we disposed of a fair quantitv of furniture and effects at satisfactory prices. Land Department.-a-We have to report a good demand for 4- and 5roomed bungalows at prices not exceeding £llOO, and cliepts were desirous of exchanging properties at reasonable market values.
