THE RAILWAYS.
“RATIONING” OPPOSED. By Telegraph—Press Association DUNEDIN, July 15. A mass meeting of the Hillside railway workshops passed a resolution disapproving of the Ministers’ suggestion of rationed work, as being class taxation, and urging him to cancel all dismissals until the Railway Commission’s report is available. The meeting expressed the opinion that the pruning knife should have been first applied to the high paid officials responsible for the present conditions, and directed attention to many useless positions created under the reorganisation scheme, urging also the suspension of the Railways magazine costing nearly £BOOO per annum.
