RUGBY UNION. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the South Canterbury Rugby Union was held last night. Present —Messrs H. H. Fraser (in the chair), W. Watson. J. Roseveare, J. Harley, W. Harte, G. Fairbrother, G. F. Doyle, A. B. Rowlands, and A. B. Herdman. The Waimate Sub-Union wrote stating that August 28 would be suitable for the match against South Canterbury at Waimate. The Sub-Union desired to know if it would be possible for South Canterbury to play Waimate juniors as a curtain-raiser. —Referred to Permit Committee. In reply to an inquiry from the Union, the secretary of the Referees’ Association advised that owing to sickness. and certain referees being out of town, appointments had not been carried out by some referees. The Boys’ High School applied for permission to play the following matches:—Versus Waitaki, first and second fifteens, first week in August, at Oarnaru; annual tournament at Invercargill, August 29.r-Granted. Finlayson (North Auckland and All Black forward) will not be available for the Third Rugby Test against Britain at Auckland on July 26th. After the Second Test in Christchurch, Finlayson returned to Auckland suffering from an abscess on the right hand. This has since turned septic, and Finlayson is at present in Auckland Hospital, where he has undergone two operations. It is stated that another operation will be necessary this week. AUCKLAND v.
