THE WEATHER A very severe frost was experienced in Waimate on Sunday night. 16 degrees of frost being registered. The weather for the past few days has been bright and sunny and farmers are well abreast of their work. MINIATURE RIFLES. Mr and Mrs J. H. Mitchell, “Kenwyn,” Studholme, will leave on Tuesday on a trip to England. Mr Mitchell has not been in the best of health lately. Mr and Mrs Mitchell will accompany Captain Beighton on the Ferndale, the captain being Mr Mitchell’s cousin. This is but the second time in twenty years that Captain Beighton has visited New Zealand, and it was only because the Ferndale could not get sufficient cargo in Australia that the call to the Dominions was made this time. The Ferndale will proceed through Panama to Genoa, and then to London.
