TEMUKA.

FOOTBALL NOTES. The 'Temuka Club had three wins on Saturday, the seniors defeating Celtic, and both junior and fourth grade winning by default from Zingari and Pareora respectively. The seniors gave unlimited penalties from scrum infringements. An improvement will be necessary next Saturday, when they meet Old Boys. A good deal of time was wasted in scrums also, some of the set scrums breaking up as many as three times. Previous games between Temuka and Celtic have resulted:—l924, Celtic 25, Temuka 6; Temuka 14, Celtic 12. 1925, Celtic 12, Temuka 3; Celtic 14, Temuka 0. 1926, Temuka 12, Celtic 8; Celtic 11, Temuka 6. 1927, Temuka 24, Celtic 6; Celtic 15, Temuka 3. 1928, Celtic 7, Temuka 6; Celtic 7, Temuka 3. 1929, Temuka 16; Celtic 3; Temuka 35; Celtic 10. 1930, Temuka 19, Celtic 6. For more than half the game on Saturday it appeared that Temuka would have to go all out to win, the Celts showing surprisingly good form. Towards the latter stages, condition told, and the home team scored several times. The home backs, with the exception of W. Scott, who was taken out of the pack, handled fairly safely and showed good combination. J. Connolly, whose eye is still bandaged, was again played on the wing, but is more at home in the pack. Connolly has a good chance as representative hooker, and the Club is seriously impairing his chances by playing him at three-quarter. STRANG FOR THIRD TEST. The second feature is “Lonesome,” which has an everyday boy and girl as hero and heroine. Glenn Tryon enacts the leading role, and Barbara Kent plays the girl.
