The man in he seedy black frock coat leaned forward to remark to the chap on the opposite seat of the crowded tramcar: "My friend, if providence had intended you to smoke it would have put a chimney in your head.” The party addressed removed his battered briar to reply: “And if providence had intended you to stick your long nose into other people's business, it would have put a metal tip to it, Mister.” Everybody roared—bar the crank. To hear some of these tobacco haters you’d imagine smoking was a crime. But baccy’s all right so long as it’s pure. Most imported brands are not. Full of nicotine. And nicotine’s as deadly as prussic-acid, although slower in its action. If you want pure tobacco smoke toasted New Zealand, as thousands are doing. The toasting kills the poison. You can smoke to your heart’s content without fear of consequences. There are only four brands of toasted—Riverhead Gold, Navy Cut No. 3, Cavendish and Cut ’Plug No. 10. They are all delightful smoking.
