GIRL GUIDES.

WOODBURY COMPANY. The Woodbury Girl Guide Company held their first birthday party on Friday evening, to which they invited their parents, friends, patrol leaders, and seconds of the Geraldine Company. Mrs Herbert Elworthy, Divisional oCmmissioner, who was accompanied by Miss Marriott, District Captain, of the Timaur Girls’ High School Company, enrolled five new Tenderfeet, and awarded second class badges and service stars. The following were the guides who qualified for their second -lass badge and service star.—Ruth Hammond, Grace Baker, Dora Maister, Freda Fergusson. Betty Hammond, Eileen Waller, Ruby Mclntosh, Roma Cooling, Phyllis Waller and Gwen Mackenzie. During the evening, camp-fire songs, country dancing and Guide games were enjoyed. The Guides provided supper which they paid for out of their company funds, and asked Mrs H. Elworthy to cut a birthday qake, which was decorated on top with a large yellow trefoil badge and motto. “Be Prepared,” and a big green candle donating their age. Sheep shank, Bowline, Clove Hitch and Fisherman’s Knots, in yellow icing ornamented the sides. The evening closed with the singing of “Taps” and God Save the King. Mrs Michael Barker, who is in charge of the Woodbury Company, has received her captain’s warrant.
