The casket containing the remains of the late Sir J. G. Ward left Parliament Buildings at 4 p.m. yesterday, for the Perry Wharf. The funeral was a large one, the gun carriage being followed by representatives of the Gover-nor-General, both Houses of Parliament, the Supreme Court, the Defence Forces, Government Departments, and numerous official and commercial bodies, in addition to the public. The ferry steamer is due at Lyttelton at 7 a.m. to-day and the coffin will be taken to Invercargill by the first express, due there at 9 p.m. The body will be removed to the Basilica, and will remain there until 1 p.m. on Sunday, when the I funeral will leave by road for the Bluff Cemetery.
