MOTH IN GALE.
DAMAGED IN LANDING. By Telegraph—Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, July 10. Extensive damage was done to a privately-owned Moth aeroplane when landing at Bell Block aerodrome shortly after nfid-day. The 'plane to Mr Oldham, of Hamilton, and was piloted by E. Luks, who was flying solo. The 'plane left Hamilton at 11 o’clock, and reached New Plymouth at 12.30. A gale of between 40 and 50 miles an hour was blowing, and when the 'plane was within about 10 feet of the ground the wind caught it and turned it on its side. The left under-wing struck the ground, and the machine turned over and dug its nose into the ground. All the wings were broken, and the centre section of the ’plane was d inaged. The tail also was damaged, but the engine was undamaged, and the pilot was uninjured.
