THE WEATHER
Mr F. L. Wooles. Wind freshening easterly to southearly; weather becoming unsettled and showery, with snow in Mackenzie Country. Low temperatures will continue. Dominion Meteorologist. A rather intense cyclone has just passed Norfolk Island. Another is apparently developing east of Sydney. The anti-cyclone over southern New Zealand is losing intensity. Expect winds strong east to north-east north of Kawhia and East Cape, rising to gale force in the far north; elsewhere light to moderate but freshening east to north winds. Seas rough to heavy north of East Cape; smooth to moderate elsewhere. Weather unsettled with rain north of Auckland, and extending gradually southwards to Cook Strait; fine elsewhere, but with increasing cloud temperatures and milder. Some heavy rain falls are likely in the north.
