HARBOUR RATE
NEW EXPERIENCE FOR WANGANUI. By Telegraph—Press Association. WANGANUI, July 7. The Wangajiui Harbour Board, at a special meeting to-day, struck a rate Of three-eighths of a penny in the £ on tne capital value in tne City of Wanganui, and three-sixteenths of a penny in the Counties of Wanganui and Waitotard. This is the first time the Board has levied a rate, and the reason given is tnat exports have been reduced by half, owing to producers holding produce in the hope of a better marnet. The coal deadlock in Australia also had been responsible for a loss to the Boara of between j-jOuu anu £4OOO.
