NEW ZEALAND TEAM. CHANGES FORESHADOWED. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, July 7. The New Zealand team for the third Test is not likely to be announced till next Monday. Although some players have already been chosen as certainties, at least four changes are said to be contemplated. The selectors will attend the Maori match at Wellington on Wednesday, keeping an eye on likely players. British Halves. It is believed that as a result of injuries to Sobey and Murray, the British manager has cabled to India, requesting that A. T. Young, the former English international half, should be granted leave to join the British team for the Australian tour. RUGBY UNION. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Management Committee of the Rugby Union was held last night. Present—Messrs D. Hertnon (chairman), H. H. Fraser, W. J. Watson, J. Harley. J. Roseveare, G. Fairbrother, A. Herdman, and G. F. Doyle. Mr E. D. Macphail (Pareora) wrote advising that as he was leaving the district, his Club had appointed Mr R. M;:nro to the position of secretary. Thanks for the hospitality extended to players and officials attending the British match was contained in a letter from the North Otago Union. The Union also expressed appreciation of the arrangements made for that match, and also for the trial game at Temuka. Permission was granted Timaru Boys’ High School to travel to Christchurch to play St. Andrew’s College. An explanation was received from one of the two members of the Old Boys’ Club who had forced their way into Fraser Park some time ago. In spite of the fact that the other member had been twice written to asking for an explanation, none was forthcoming. Mr Watson said he thought the player in question was under a misapprehension regarding the necessity to reply to the Union. In other instances verbal explanations had been accepted, although he was of opinion that all explanations should be in writing. He moved that the matter be held over for a week to allow the player further opportunity of making reply. Mr Fraser seconded the motion. Mr Herdman said he was not in favour of holding the matter over. The player had received two letters from the Union, and had had ample time in which to reply. Nothing was to be gained by shelving the question. Mr Roseveare then moved as an amendment, and Mr Herdman seconded, that unless a reply be received from the player before 5 p.m. on Friday next, he be suspended during the pleasure of the Union. On being put the voting on the amendment proved even, and on the casting vote of the chairman the amendment was carried.
