HOUSE GUTTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, July 7. A six-roomed house in Lemon Street, owned and occupied by Mr T. D. Jenkins, was gutted by fire on Sunday night. Mr Jenkins awoke and saw a reflection of the fire. The family escaped with difficulty. The Brigade was summoned, and took 40 minutes to subdue the flames, as a strong wind was blowing. The insurances were £4OO on the house and £250 on the furniture. OUTBREAK IN COTTAGE. By Telegraph—Press Association. HOKITIKA, July 7. A fire gutted a five-roomed cottage in Hampden Street on Saturday night. It was unoccupied for two days. The owner was Mr J. Hagar. It was insured for £IOO. LIFT DESTROYED.
