NORFOLK ISLAND SERVICE.
PRIVATE ENTERPRISE TAKES OVER . 1} T*l«gra;>ft—*A»«oci»A*on. AUCKLAND, July 7. The Norfolk Island-Auckland service is to be resumed by private enterprise. Spedding, Ltd., have arrangements in hand for the inauguration of a steamer service, which will probably start from Auckland next Monday. The vessel which will probably be used is the Hikurangi, of 287 tons, which has been employed in the local coastal trade. Since the Maui Pomare was withdrawn from the service early this year, there has been no link with Norfolk Island, but it is hoped to make the new venture permanent and regular.
