ATHLETICS.
BAPTIST HARRIERS. Another good run was held on Saturday, when the Baptist Harriers were > the guests of the Baptist Tennis Club.! The trail-layers were L. Woodward i and M. Lawrence, and the paper commenced at the top of the Fairview Road, and led down for some way until a deviation was made to the right, across country. Splendid country was traversed, and a variety of flat and laill work was experienced. The road was again met well above the Glen-iti store, and this provided an excellent run home. The placings were:—R. C. Holmes 1, N. Keeley 2, A. Hopkins 3. Afternoon tea was served by the ladies of the Tennis Club, and Mr Holmes thanked them, on behalf of j the Harriers, for their hospitality. METHODIST HARRIERS CLUB Nineteen harriers ran from the residence of Mr J. Butcher, Arthur Street, on Saturday, on a nine-mile road run. The trail layers, L. McKessar and E. Sutherland, led the packs up Arthur, Church and Otipua Streets to Highfield store, and up to Gleniti store. From here they proceeded along the Hadlow Road to Page’s Road, and down this road through Morgan's Road and back to Highfield store. The trail then led back to Arthur Street. In view of the Teinuka-Timaru road race next Saturday, the whole run was on the road, results being as follows: W. Holmes (slow pack) 1, H. Henry (slow pack) 2, R. Lund, E. Wilson, L. Wilson (fast pack) 3. These were closely followed by H. Cullimore, L. Jackson, W. McPhedran, N. Rose, T. Mouatt, R. Vincent and several others. The harriers were then entertained to afternoon tea by Mrs J. Butcher, after which R. Nelson (club captain) thanked Mr and Mrs Butcher for their hospitality. Mis Butcher replied, expressing pleasure at seeing such a large number of harriers present, and hoping to see them all back again next year. An enjoyable time was then spent in music and song.
